Pragmatic Play has made an effort with the design of Chicken Chase and it really shows. The theme may be a recurring one, but there is something about Chicken Chase that peaks your interest. The background shows a cloudy day on a farm with windmills, a barn and beautiful countryside scenery. The design and theme is eerily similar to Barn Festival and The Bird House.

Chicken Chase Base Game and Features

Chicken Chase is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. In order to form a winning combination, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

The base game in Chicken Chase has a unique Spin and Hold feature that delivers a little excitement to an otherwise dull and boring base game. The Spin and Hold feature reminds us of the old style hold and nudge fruit machines, but it’s not as appealing as other features we’ve seen before.

Spin and Hold Feature

During any random spin in the base game, if there are no 5 of a kind winning combinations, the Spin and Hold feature will activate.

Once active, the bottom of each of the 5 reels will show a Hold or Held button. The game will choose between 1 and 5 reels to hold automatically and the remaining reels are for you to Hold if you decide to. The reels that are already pre-held can be un-selected during this feature.

Once the chosen reels are held, you will be awarded a free Respin. When the Respin is over, all winning combinations that are formed will be paid and the reels will return to normal.

The Spin and Hold feature may not be to everyone’s taste and it certainly isn’t the best one we’ve seen, but it does trigger quite a lot in the base game.

Bonus Feature

Landing 3, 4 or 5 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Bonus feature. The Bonus feature does not award any Free Spins or Respins during this round.

Once active, you will be greeted by 4 Chicken symbols that each reveal their own Cash Prize.

3 Scatters – Triggering the Bonus feature with 3 Scatters, awards a Cash Prize of 2x, 4x, 12x or 50x your current bet.

4 Scatters – Triggering the Bonus feature with 4 Scatters, awards a Cash Prize of 4x, 8x, 24x or 100x your current bet.

5 Scatters – Triggering the Bonus feature with 5 Scatters, awards a Cash Prize of 6x, 12x, 36x or 150x your current bet.
